Job Description

The role is responsible for the effective coordination, control, and assurance of all temporary works activities on the project. It involves managing communication between contractors, designers, and stakeholders; maintaining comprehensive temporary works registers and site documentation; and ensuring designs, approvals, permits, and inspections comply with applicable procedures and design check requirements. The position ensures temporary works are designed, reviewed, constructed, inspected, monitored, and maintained in accordance with certified designs, risk assessments, and company procedures. It also includes appointing competent personnel, managing changes through formal approval, and exercising authority to stop works in the event of unsafe conditions or non-compliance, thereby ensuring safety, compliance, and integrity throughout the temporary works lifecycle.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate all temporary works (TW) activities undertaken by the main contractor and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all temporary works information is correctly received from and issued to relevant parties throughout the TW process.
  • Liaise with the Temporary Works Designer (TWD) on design development, modifications, clarifications, and proposed changes.
  • Distribute approved temporary works information to the Lead Designer, Technical Advisor, PMC, Client, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Temporary Works Control Register, including all approved drawings, calculations, check certificates, permits, and associated documentation.
  • Establish and maintain the Temporary Works Appointment Register for all personnel involved in temporary works.
  • Ensure a comprehensive Project Site File is maintained with all current and approved temporary works documentation.
  • Confirm that Design Briefs / Engineering Work Requests contain adequate information, including identification of nearby hazards and interfacing temporary works.
  • Ensure temporary works designs are prepared, reviewed, and checked in accordance with the specified Design Check Category requirements.
  • For Design Check Categories 1, 2, and 3, confirm formal agreements are in place defining design and independent design-check responsibilities.
  • Verify that all required client, statutory, and third-party approvals are obtained prior to construction or use of temporary works.
  • Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments (MSRA) to confirm all temporary works requirements, residual risks, and control measures are addressed.
  • Ensure all necessary permits (e.g., permit to load, put into use, modify, strike, or remove) are issued, authorized, and complied with.
  • Ensure inspections and hold points are carried out, recorded, and signed off in accordance with the approved design and TW procedures.
  • Confirm that all temporary works materials meet specification requirements and are inspected upon delivery.
  • Ensure temporary works are constructed strictly in accordance with the certified design and approved documentation.
  • Ensure Temporary Works Supervisors (TWS) are competent, appointed, and capable of carrying out inspections and supervision.
  • Establish and implement required inspection frequencies, monitoring, and maintenance activities for the duration of the temporary works.
  • Refer any proposed changes to design, materials, or construction methods to the TWD and implement only after formal approval.
  • Ensure all temporary works comply fully with the company’s Temporary Works Procedure at all stages.
  • Stop works immediately where unsafe conditions, deviations from approved design, or non-compliance are identified.
  • Identify and implement requirements for ongoing inspection, monitoring, and maintenance throughout the temporary works lifecycle.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or similar with Previous experience in temporary works
