Project Controls Digital Solutions Engineer

The Project Controls Digital Solutions Engineer will develop, operate and continuously improve the organisation’s centralized Project Controls Command Centre and its digital reporting systems. This hands-on role combines data integration, reporting, automation and solution support across a portfolio of projects.

The role will progressively bring together information across Planning, Commercial/CCVR, Procurement, QA/QC, HSE, labour and resources, and portfolio reporting. The successful candidate will translate business needs into reliable digital solutions, troubleshoot issues and support the introduction of workflow automation and AI/Copilot capabilities.

Job Responsibility:
- Design, build, integrate, operate and maintain the Project Controls Command Centre and associated digital reporting solutions.
- Gather and clarify business requirements, translating them into data models, dashboards, reports and automated workflows.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and management reports using DAX, Power Query and Power BI Service.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, including Primavera P6, SQL databases, Excel files, SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
- Build and maintain data models, queries and reporting datasets to support accurate, consistent portfolio insights.
- Develop workflow automation using Microsoft Power Automate and help identify opportunities to streamline reporting and business processes.
- Configure and manage Power BI security, including role-based access, workspace permissions and data access controls.
- Monitor solution performance, investigate data and technical issues, and implement improvements to reliability, usability and maintainability.
- Work with Project Controls and other project teams to understand reporting practices, data definitions and operational requirements.
- Support the progressive adoption of Microsoft Fabric, Copilot Studio and other relevant AI capabilities.
- Maintain solution documentation, data definitions and support procedures, and help users adopt reporting tools effectively.

Candidate Requirements:
- Approximately 5–8+ years of relevant experience in digital solutions, business intelligence, data analytics, Project Controls or a similar field.
- Strong practical experience with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, dashboard development and Power BI Service.
- Experience with SQL, data modelling and integrating data from multiple sources.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 and Project Controls reporting, or the ability to quickly learn Project Controls concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, advanced Excel, SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
- Understanding of Power BI security and role-based access management.
- Experience in construction, engineering, Project Controls or another project-based environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work from business requirements through to implementation and ongoing support.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Copilot Studio is advantageous.
- Microsoft PL-300 certification is advantageous; demonstrated practical capability is more important than certification alone.
